Are you coming to Switzerland one day earlier?
Upon landing in Zurich, you’ll check in and rest at your comfortable airport hotel — the ideal way to recover from your international flight before your adventure begins.
For the next day, we’ve designed a wonderful Pre-Tour Option: a full-day excursion to Stein am Rhein & the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen. After the tour, your guide will accompany you back to Zurich to collect your luggage and then escort you to the train station, ensuring you comfortably continue to your next destination.

The Gotthard Panorama Express offers a scenic journey that can be experienced in either direction – from Lucerne to Lugano or from Lugano to Lucerne.
The adventure begins with a relaxing boat cruise from Lucerne, passing historically significant sites such as the Schiller Stone and the Rütli Meadow, where Switzerland was founded in 1291.
In Flüelen, you transfer to the 1st class panorama train, where Gotthard Panorama’s tour guides will welcome you on board. The train then takes you along the famous Gotthard route, with three views of the iconic Wassen Church and its impressive railway loop tunnels.
As you travel through the Reuss Valley and the historic Gotthard Tunnel, you’ll enjoy fascinating stories and visuals about the region. Whether traveling from Lucerne to Lugano or the reverse, this route promises an unforgettable Swiss experience.
In Lugano, beautifully set on the shores of Lake Lugano, stroll around Lugano’s elegant promenades, bustling piazzas, and serene parks and get ready for the delicious Ticinese cuisine.

Today you will discover one of the most fascinating Italian lakes, Lake Como.
You will travel with a local Italian bus from Lugano to Menaggio (Important: the bus ticket can only be purchased on board, and you’ll need to pay in cash and it costs €6), then board the Lake Como boat to Bellagio, one of the most beautiful town on the lake.
Stroll on the cobbled sun-soaked streets that lead us down to the glistening blue lake surrounded by Alps. You see some of the most famous and beautiful villas of the rich and famous that line the sunny upper shores of Lake Como with its microclimates and the amazing gardens that touch the lake.
You will be cruising around the lake by boat, surrounded by mountains, sparkling water and villas, while relaxing in peaceful atmospheres on the beautiful lake of 146 square kilometers, and 400 meters/1,300 feet deep one of the deepest and certainly most beautiful lakes in Europe.
The Lake of Como has the shape of an inverted Y and comprises many beautiful villages and villas to see. For the past five hundred years everyone from Bellini the composer, to Winston Churchill have enjoyed residence in the beautiful villas of Como.
Take a walk-through Como, view the beautiful cathedral the Duomo of Como, and take a return train to Lugano.

Visa, Maestro, and Mastercard are commonly accepted in Switzerland. American Express is not very popular and many businesses don’t accept it. The country is becoming more and more cashless with contactless and mobile payments (Google and Apple Pay). Still, it’s useful to have some cash on you while travelling. All banks provide currency exchange services at a favorable rate.
Reasonable Fitness Required
This is a private tour and the excursions can be adapted to your abilities and wishes. Thus, we cannot estimate the average number of steps per day. A rough minimum would be around 3000 steps per day.
However, this tour is based solely on public transportation. This means you will be walking up and down train platform stairs or ramps to make the connection platform changes. These connection times can range from 7 to 15 minutes and are usually close to another, so a regular walk pace is all that’s needed.
