Visa, Maestro and Mastercard are commonly accepted in Switzerland. American Express is less popular and many businesses don’t accept it. The country is becoming more and more cashless with contactless and mobile payments (Google and Apple Pay). Still, it’s useful to have some cash on you while travelling. All banks provide currency exchange services at a favorable rate.

Light Fitness Required

This Light Edition is designed for travelers who prefer a gentle pace and minimal walking while still enjoying Switzerland’s scenic highlights. It follows the same iconic routes as the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland but with fewer activities and a comfort-focused schedule.

You’ll travel entirely by public transportation, accompanied by your guide who ensures smooth connections and a relaxed rhythm. A basic level of mobility is needed to walk short distances—between stations, hotels, restaurants, and activity sites—typically 5 to 20 minutes at an unhurried pace.

On most days, expect 3,000–5,000 steps (about 20–60 minutes), with some platforms requiring ramps or short stairs, and occasional brisk walks to reach your train carriage.

This edition is perfect for guests who have limited mobility. Travelers who prefer longer walks and a more active schedule may wish to consider the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland, which covers nearly the same route at a livelier pace.
