Your guide will meet you at the hotel in St. Moritz at 8:30, in time to walk or take a bus to the train station. Your train is leaving at 9:17 am.

Please note the timing may vary depending on availability on the Bernina Express. 

Your Bernina Express day trip to Tirano starts with a panoramic ride along the higest railway line in the Alps, with the higest point located at a staggering 2,253 m (7,392 ft) above sea level.

Marvel at the spectacular views of the Bernina Range with their rocky, rugged peaks, thick spruce woods and imposing glaciers. Your guide will share interesting fact and stories about particular landmarks such as Morteratsch Glacier, Piz Palü, Ospizio Bernina station, Brusio helical viaduct and others.

After two hours of train ride and a magnificent descent across the Poschiavo Valley you will arrive in Tirano. Enjoy a guided walk of this ancient Lombardian town and learn more about the tradtional ways of living in the shadow of the mighty Bernina Alps.

Your guide will be happy to give you recommendations for the best lunch places in town. As you sit down in one of the trattorias, make sure to try local specialties such as osobucco (veal shanks), tortellini di zucca (pumpkin tortellini), and risotto.

After lunch you will have a couple of hours to explore the town, enjoy a cup of coffee or visit one of the local museums, parks and churches. Make sure to visit Palazzo Merizzi and Santuario della Madonna di Tirano. 

Depending on your preferences, the guide can suggest various times of departure on the Bernina Express route (not the Bernina Express Train). We suggest leaving with a train at 3:00 pm.

Depending on availability the Bernina Express will be booked from Tirano to St. Moritz. 

After a two-hour ride back you should be in St. Mortiz around 5 pm.
